Narrated in first person and often asking herself difficult questions, Al-Kateab listens to the athletes who have seen their dreams vanish and accompanies them through their suffering.。第二次世界大战末，由共产党交通护送从欧洲转道而来的武器专家寒冰，由上海前往苏北抗日根据地。消息被日本宪兵司令部与国民党军统得知，双双拦截。日军、国民党军统在追捕过程中大开杀戒，激起隐身民间的枪神郑啸天的愤慨，在共产党地下组织的启迪下，他重新擦枪，投入杀敌行列。郑啸天利用其在上海的特殊身份，乔装打扮，深入敌方，肃清了台前台后的内奸外敌，把国家急需的人才和钱款安全送往抗日根据地。。
