本片以法国诺曼底乡间一栋祖传老宅为叙事枢纽，讲述一对表亲继承房产后，机缘巧合下循着泛黄家谱的指引，揭开家族先辈十九世纪在花都巴黎的尘封往事。。Plebs is described as "a thoroughly modern comedy in an ancient setting."
