该剧以陕北二次革命时期为背景，以吴儿堡的杨作新、黑大头、白玉娥等人的传奇人生为主线，再现了革命圣地波澜壮阔的历史风云。黑大头是后吴儿堡一个颇有资产的农村汉子，他生性豪爽，仗义疏财，但由于被土匪绑架，继而又被官府打入死牢。黑大头被逼上梁山，带着余匪和妻小上后九天做了山大王。。The film, which marks the directorial debut of singer-turned-actor Luke Goss, is currently in post-production.
