剧情简介
同治皇帝病重，李莲英（姜文 饰）力荐慈禧（刘晓庆 饰）二次垂帘听政，不久同治身亡，慈禧立载湉为帝，继续把持朝政。1882年，李莲英陪同醇亲王巡视北洋水师，返京后却遭都察院纠弹，被革职处理，在慈禧的主张下，李莲英官复后宫大总管原职。李莲英为使侄女有个好归宿，将其带入宫中， 岂料只落得奴婢下场，他心中充满愧疚。光绪日渐成长，不甘受慈禧摆布，试图从慈禧手中夺权却被强力镇压，李莲英畏惧慈禧淫威，奉命将珍妃处死。不久八国联军入侵，清军连战连败，李莲英随慈禧微服出逃，途中在农户家中落脚，农妇的一席话，令李莲英与慈禧若有所悟……。在海边一所终日窗帘紧闭的隐秘房子里，一个隐居于此的剧作家终日与他的狗为伴。而这样的宁静突然在一个夜晚被一个逃到此处的年轻女子所打破。她想在此避难，不愿离开。然而黎明降至，另一不期而至的事情改变了一切。。The Palindromists is a documentary delving into the world of palindromes- those peculiar words and phrases that read the same backwards and forwards.
