「龍門七俠」之六俠夜探「昭慶寺」被殺，七俠之首文素臣（喬莊）決心報仇。寺內主持空明和尚（唐迪）作惡多端，調戲木匠妹妹琴兒（李菁），且與奸臣勾結，合謀在觀日亭殺害巡按林惕菴（李影）。林一家誤中機關墮海，幸獲文暗中保護，並在海中救回林之女兒紅玉（何莉莉）。林下令文進攻「昭慶寺」取走謀反名單，於是文潛入「昭慶寺」藏經閣與空明作最後一戰。張徹的劇本將電影貫注了傳統中國俠義精神，層出不窮的機關設計與爆炸場面，極盡視覺刺激。文素臣與空明的終極決戰，對後來張徹及現代武俠電影發展有重大的影響。。Bandits led by Matt the Mute enter a bar and kill multiple people. Randy Bowers comes to town and is framed by Matt the Mute, who is working with the sheriff, who doesn't know that Matt is really a criminal. Matt the Mute writes out everything he wants to say. Randy escapes with the help of Sally Rogers, the niece of the dead owner of the bar. Bowers runs from the sheriff, and ends up in the cave in which the bandits have their hideout. They kidnap Sally, who escapes with the help of Bowers.
