有着非洲血统的被收养小男孩的生活与其他家庭截然不同！他的父亲艾略特非常热衷于扮演一个收养孩子的父亲角色，整天对儿子念叨他的非洲血统。而他的母亲艾娃却觉得艾略特做得太过了，过于溺爱，让人喘不过气……。"Daughters of the Dust" tells the story of a family of African-Americans who have lived for many years on a Southern offshore island, and of how they come together one day in 1902 to celebrate their ancestors before some of them leave for the North. The film is narrated by an unborn child, and ancestors already dead also seem to be as present as the living.。
